The Chisholm Trail was one of the most famous cattle-driving routes of the late 19th century, running from Texas to Kansas. Named after Jesse Chisholm, a trader of mixed Scottish and Cherokee descent, the trail became the primary route for moving cattle from ranches in Texas to railheads in Kansas. The trail passed through Fort Worth, which became a key stopover for cattle drives.
